The Mystery Plays
by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa
Directed by Paula Bennett
The stories in the plays illuminate (or perhaps cast ever widening shadows) on the blindness of fate and the mystery of forgiveness. Like the Medieval mystery plays from the early church (and comic books from the 1990s) the themes are death, the afterlife, faith, fate and religion.
Because The Mystery Plays are two separate yet interweaving short stories, The Filmmakers Mystery and Ghost Children, I decided to write a unifying theme to connect them and wrote variations on that theme that were specific to each story (similar to the Twilight Zone, etc.).
